THE EXPERIENCE

What it’s like to work together

From the first inquiry to receiving your keepsake poster, here’s how the live watercolor guest portrait experience works.

01

Inquiry

You reach out with the event details.

You’ll share the basics: your date, location, guest count, and the kind of experience you’re dreaming up. I’ll help guide you toward the right live watercolor guest portrait coverage.

02

Booking

Your date gets officially locked in.

Once you’re ready, your date is secured with a signed contract and a 30% non-refundable retainer. The remainder won't be due until 2 weeks before your event date.

03

One Month Out

We meet to plan the important little details.

About one month before your event, we’ll connect to talk through setup, timing, paper details, guest flow, VIPs, and anything else that helps the experience feel polished and smooth.

04

Guest List

You send the guest list so I can plan the flow.

Between the planning meeting and your event, you’ll send over your guest list with marked VIPs so I can keep everything organized and make sure the portrait experience feels personal for you and your guests.

05

Event Day

I arrive early, set up, and get ready to paint.

I arrive about one hour before the contracted start time to set up, settle in, and make sure your watercolor portrait is ready before guests start experiencing the magic. Then I paint while you get married and celebrate, obviously.

06

After the Event

Your portraits become one final keepsake.

If all portraits are completed live, I’ll send your custom keepsake poster the day after the event. If any remaining portraits need to be finished in-studio, I’ll complete them within two weeks and then send your final poster.

What makes Bowtie & Brush different?

Bowtie & Brush isn’t just any live event experience. It’s a luxury guest experience and a meaningful keepsake. Your guests leave with a modern, fashion-illustration style watercolor portrait they’ll actually keep, the artwork fits an elevated wedding vibe, and I run my ship so smoothly that it feels effortless and your guests feel included on a busy wedding day.

Where are you located?

Washougal, WA. Just 30 minutes outside of Portland.

Do you have a travel fee?

I offer flat travel fees for local events and many popular destinations across the country, so you can get a clear idea without a bunch of back-and-forth.

For local celebrations, this typically covers mileage and gas, and for destination events it may include gas/mileage or airfare, lodging, plus a per diem for food and incidentals.

You’ll see the exact travel fee when you select your region on my inquiry form. If your destination isn’t listed—or if it’s international—a custom travel quote will be required.

How many of each portrait do we get?

Each completed guest portrait includes one physical 5"x7" watercolor portrait. If a couple, family, or group is painted together, that group receives one physical portrait.

Digital scans are included, so you’ll still have access to the artwork after the event. Additional physical copies are not included unless approved by the artist's discretion or purchased separately following the event.

Do you have any setup requirements for live events?

I require from you or the venue:

  • At least one 4–6 ft table with linen
  • 1–2 chairs
  • Access to an electrical outlet
  • Access to water
  • Reliable Wi-Fi

If the event is outside during the daytime, I must be stationed in a covered area.

How do I secure you for my event?

You will need to pay a 30% non-refundable retainer upon the signing or receipt of the contract. The remainder will be due two weeks prior to your event.
